We looked at several different criteria in our assessment of TEAS practice tests and exam prep. We looked at the authors and the organization by which each material was published, the format(s) available, the number of questions, the price and time limit, any extras included, and the ratings given to each item by Amazon reviewers.
The first book we looked at was Secrets of the TEAS Exam Study Guide (http://www.mo-media.com/teas/), by Mometrix Test Preparation (http://www.mo-media.com/). This book was written by TEAS exam experts and is available as a hard copy for $23.49 straight from the publisher. It is also available to rent on Amazon. It includes an unspecified number of practice tests questions and multiple books and pamphlets on the TEAS test and standardized test-taking in general. The overall Amazon rating for this book is 3.9 out of 5 stars.
The next practice guide that we looked at was the TEAS V Practice Exam Kit (/TEAS-Complete-Practice-Test-Study) offered by tests.com (https://www.tests.com). This guide was written by subject area experts unaffiliated with the TEAS test. It is available for $19.95 straight from the publisher and is offered in an online interactive and PDF format, both of which are included with unlimited access. This guide offers a total of 1250 practice questions and includes flashcards. Because this guide is not a book, we were unable to include reviews from Amazon.
Next, we looked at the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (Version V) Study Manual (http://www.atitesting.com/ati_store/product.aspx?zpid=1175) offered by ATI Nursing Education (http://www.atitesting.com). This manual was written by the organization that creates the TEAS test itself. It is offered as a hard copy book and includes two 150-question practice tests and instructional material on each testing area. It sells at $46.00 straight from the publisher and is available to rent on Amazon. Amazon reviewers give this manual an overall score of 4.4 out of five stars.
We also looked at McGraw Hill’s 5 TEAS Practice Tests (http://www.mhprofessional.com/product.php?isbn=007182572X), offered by McGraw Hill (http://www.mcgraw-hill.com). The book is authored by Kathy Zahler, who writes most of McGraw Hill’s study manuals. It is offered as a hard copy for $28.00 straight from the manufacturer and is available to rent on Amazon. It includes five full-length practice tests with full explanations for every answer. It also comes with the Interactive Test Planner app. Amazon reviewers give it an overall rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars.
