The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) is used to determine if a student has the skills and knowledge to enter medical school and later practice medicine. The test is taken by students before they apply for medical school and the score is just one factor used during the admissions process. The test is offered January through September and should be taken within a year of applying to medical school. To learn more about the MCAT read The Guide to the Medical College Admissions Test and our interview with Dr. Gavin Putzer, MCAT preparation expert.
