Health care professionals, like physicians, registered nurses or medical techs, may become certified in infection control through an exam presented and administered by the Certification Board of Infection Control, known as the CBIC exam. The exam is voluntary and the goals of the CBIC are to provide standardized meausrement for knowledge in infection control, to encourage education and professionalism and to recognize those who fulfill the requirements for certification.
